1. Tell us about yourself, childhood, and what brought you to personal development today.

I’m Saabirah Lawrence, writer, public speaker, content creators and podcast host, born and raised in east London.

My personal development journey started when I started blogging, I started writing and expressing myself, connecting with like minded people and it gave me the space to understand myself. My strengths and my passions. I think it is hard to write a personal blog without going on a personal journey of self discovery, self-awareness, self care and self development. Being the eldest of 4 also meant that I wasn't always looking after myself but instead looking after everyone else that was something else that influenced my self development journey, I began to prioritize myself more and ask myself ”is this for me? Or someone else?” because it is really important to make sure you’re not only serving others but you are also serving yourself.

2. One piece of advice you would give your 20-year-old self.

I turned 20 six years ago and I can't even remember what it felt like to turn 20. I think at that time I really need to hear that it is okay if you don't know what you want to do with your life, you have time and you are not lazy or stupid for not knowing what you want to do, you just want to put your time and energy into the right spaces.

3. Name your favorite self-development, self-help, or personal development book.

I haven't read a lot of self help books, one that I found to be moving was ’The Value in the Valley: Black Woman's Guide Through Life's Dilemmas’ by Iyanla Vanzant this book had me in tears, it opened up my eyes and really gave me something to think about.

4. Which area of life are you evolving in right now?

I am really embracing choosing myself, when you are used to being in service of others and never yourself, learning to choose yourself even when you don't feel like it is life-changing. It is a very uncomfortable journey but one of my favorites sayings is ”get comfortable with being uncomfortable” nothing changes if you stay comfortable.

5. Tell us more about @everydayqueens_

I am known for my wellness content and I just felt like black womxn need spaces to grow, learn, unlearn, feel represented and we need to speak about managing our mental health. Everyday Queens is for the everyday black woman, I have created a platform that breaks down self care and self love, some the ”basics” to the more specific issues we may face. I want Everyday Queens to be the space for solutions, I love talking about mental health and self care but we definitely need the resources to be able to grow and create change.

6. What is your top tip to manifesting the life of your dreams?

From my experience I have manifested the things that I felt was for me, I felt as if I didn't need to obsess over it because it’s coming, I say what I want to see in my life, and I take action. it is important to know that manifesting is still work, you still have work to do, you essentially have to do your part in order for the universe and/or God to do their part.

7. What is the biggest challenge you have faced on your healing journey?

IMG_8703.jpeg

Letting go of the past and the things that no longer serve you, we are human, it is easier saying “let it go” but it isn’t always easy to do. Also, realizing that being self-aware isn’t the end, it is the beginning, I kind of felt like I did the work because I was aware of my positive and negative traits, you actually have to do something with that lol I didn't really think about that lol

8. What mantra do you live by?

Feel the fear and do it anyway.

When I was younger I heard this a lot and never got it like the fear felt so intense how do I push through this? But honestly, the relief and peace of mind you experience when you push through it is empowering.

9. How do you continue to build the empire within?

Therapy, speaking up, listening to my intuition, accepting that I am never going to be perfect and that perfection isn't the goal, happiness and peace is the goal.
