Evolving Empress: Ash Alves

Meet Wellness Writer + Advocate, Ash Alves. She is the Evolving Empress behind @warriorreminder. If you have been searching for a sacred space for self-empowerment, Ash is your UK homegirl. Learn more about her below.

1. Tell us about yourself, childhood, and what brought you to personal development today.

I grew up in a typical single-parent household in a council estate. As the oldest sibling, I had to grow up very quickly and take the role of a responsible child due to home circumstances. From a young age, I was very self-aware of my environment- I realised from early on that adults often inflict pain on themselves or repeated cycles of suffering due to their traumatic experiences. I was a sensitive and passionate child who could sense when people were suffering. Over the years during school, I felt connected to quotes and affirmations. Fast forward to 2018, I went through a dark phase in my life and found myself suffering from depression. One day I decided to take my healing seriously and began writing. Looking back at everything, I believe the path I’m on has been destined for me. I’ve been able to use my sensitives and experiences to empower others through writing.

2. One piece of advice you would give your 20-year-old self.

I would tell my younger self that no competition exists. When I was 20 years old, I battled with a lot of insecurities. If I could go back, I would tell myself to embrace what makes me unique and accept the fullness of who I am. I would tell her that just because you don’t have people around you to validate you doesn’t mean you aren’t doing an amazing. I would tell her that she’s doing the best she can and that she’s smart, beautiful, caring, and loving enough.

3. Name your favorite self-development, self-help, or personal development book.

Bell hooks – All About Love

This book is typically known as a feminist book as opposed to a self-help one, however, I believe it transcends all categories. Many of us carry wounds of love-lessness, whether from our parents, society, friends, or romantic partners. When we redefine what love is and the actions that can be taken towards love, we can heal our wounds and operate from a place of love.

4.Which area of life are you evolving in right now?

I am currently evolving my career. My ultimate goal is to spend my days doing things that I love, so I am building the foundations for my future right now.

5. Tell us more about Warrior Reminder.

Warrior Reminder is a UK based organisation aimed at creating a safe space for collective healing, self-empowerment, and authentic conversations. The mission of Warrior Reminder is to guide and support one's inner work by using techniques including journal prompts, affirmations, and workshops.

6. What is your top tip to manifesting the life of your dreams?

I'd say staying grounded and rooted in intention. When you are clear of your WHY and you continue to take action towards your goals, you will manifest the life you want in some shape or form.

7. What is the biggest challenge you have faced on your healing journey?

The biggest challenge has been accepting that whilst I’m healing, there’s going to be obstacles that arise that may temporarily knock me off track. I had to accept that negative experiences don’t stop even if I’m becoming a better version of me and that it doesn’t undermine the progress I’ve already made.

8. What mantra do you live by?

9. How do you continue to build the empire within?

I have a daily spiritual practice that keeps me grounded. I commit to taking care of my emotional needs daily and imposing necessary boundaries. I do my best to listen to myself daily.
